How to Book your Battlebus Tour

Bookings can be taken for just 1 person or up to 8, although we always need a minimum of 2 to run a tour. We do not take children under 12 years old on our standard tours - for families with younger children please see our page about private tours.  Please see our FAQ page for further information about how our schedules are determined.

How to Book - Step One
Firstly we suggest you e-mail us with your proposed dates and which tour or tours you are interested in - then we can e-mail you back with our availability. Our tour range is described here together with the running times and prices.

How to Book - Step Two
When you are ready to make a firm booking please, e-mail us with the following information:

1) Name/Names:
2) Number of persons in group:
3) Date/Dates:
4) Type of Tour or Tours required:
5) Definite name of the Hotel/B&B etc you are staying in prior to the tour:

Please note - we need to know the name of the hotel or B&B you're booked at in the Bayeux area before we can send you a booking confirmation. Because we take no deposits or pre-payments we take all clients' accommodation details as security.

Because of our 8.30am tour departure time we do not take bookings from anyone staying further than 50 minutes drive from Bayeux . This specifically precludes places like Honfleur, Deauville, Rouen, Le Havre and Paris which are simply too far away from the D-Day sites to be a practical place to stay.  We have a page of travel information about Bayeux with details of places to stay and maps showing Place de Quebec our standard pick up point .

How to Book - Step Three
Within 36 hours you will receive our PDF booking confirmation document. Only when you have received this confirmation can you be assured that your tour is firmly “booked”. We then need you to e-mail us once more to say that you have received the confirmation, which will have the start time and pick up point indicated. This means that if you have not received the PDF document you are not booked!

Please read the Terms and Conditions in the PDF carefully, they are there for your benefit and to ensure the smooth running of the tour, and don't forget to print it and bring with you, it will be of no use if you leave it sitting on your desk at home.  It also contains a map, travel advice and your free Bayeux discount coupons.

                         Our Touring Seasons

Main Touring Season - March 1st to October 31st
With the exception of the dates indicated in the Battlebus Closures section below, we run tours every day of the week - rain or shine!

Winter Season - November 1st to February 28th
Over the winter we have fewer members of staff working, so run a less extensive service.  Many of the museums are closed in December and January so we omit the museum stops from our tours and with the dark mornings and evenings the tours run from 9.00am to 5.00pm.  Please note -  if we have bad weather and cannot safely operate we may have to cancel tours - please see a thread on our forum about weather in Normandy here.

Battlebus Closures
We are closed from August 15th to 22nd (inclusive) for our staff vacations.

                          Other Information

Last-Minute Bookings

We understand that some travellers may not know exactly when they will be in Bayeux, and we will try to accommodate you if we can, but please understand that some dates get booked up weeks and often months in advance.

When we are fully booked
If we are fully booked unfortunately we have to turn people down. We don't like it when this occurs but we are not the biggest tour operator - we do not cope with extra demand by using trainee or temporary staff, our commitment is to quality over quantity.  I n other areas of tourism high demand can easily be absorbed, a museum can fit more people through its doors, a restaurant can accommodate more sittings. But our minibuses seat 8, and our staff can only be in one place at one time. Please be prepared, be assured of a seat on our minibus because you booked in advance. Don't be the poor person who can't get a tour with anyone, left behind in Bayeux because all the tour companies are booked up on the day of your visit!

Can we do a D-Day beaches tour in a day trip from Paris?
No, the first train arrives too late in the morning. You would need to stay in the Bayeux area the night before to tour with us at Battlebus.

A D-Day beaches tour from a cruise ship into Le Havre or Cherbourg
This is a popular way of visiting Normandy, but is not a service we ourselves provide.  The long days involved are better suited to the independent freelance guides.  We provide a page here about Le Havre Tours for your information.
